The Florence Freedom Frontier League baseball team has a new name – Florence Y’alls! The new branding is their spin on the city of Florence’s iconic water tower. History has it that the tower initially had advertising for “Florence Mall” in the 1970s to promote the new shopping complex under construction. A federal law dictated the ad was not legal and a change had to be made. The Florence Mayor created an economic solution by swapping out the “M” for the “Y”. Y’All has remained since 1974 and is now part of the charm of Florence, Kentucky. Getting back to baseball – the city’s team wanted a name change and the citizens decisively voted for Florence Y’alls. Be sure to attend a game at the UC Health Stadium this spring and summer.
