With the world’s situation at hand, many of us are dutifully working from home. If you are in sales, you can no longer see your clients in person, but there are still many ways to stay connected and be productive. Here are five tips to consider when working from home during this health crisis:
Stay engaged with your business while working from home. You need to adapt to the current social-distancing situation. Here are a few things you can do to engage if you are in sales:
>Give your database a boost: Set your contacts to receive e-newsletters, drip campaigns and market updates.
>Get on social media: Schedule or block out a certain time during your day to update and interact with your community and connections.
>Video-text messages: Sending a quick little text is great. Sending a video is awesome! It will be more captivating to your audience and show you went the extra mile to send them something special.
- Show Compassion
People internalize crisis situations differently. It is our job to seek first to understand what they may be going through and then determine how we can help them. For those in a sales industry, this helps to determine what relevant value we can contribute.
- Sharpen and Share
Take this time to learn, practice and implement more consistent business practices – and then share them. Let people know that you are not only still available but are mastering your craft to better serve them today and tomorrow.
- Be Smart in the Shower
People are already making tough decisions and are being told what they can and cannot do. The last thing they need is a salesperson telling them what is best for their family. So if you’re going to be “smart”, be smart in the shower – by yourself! The rest of the time, be patient, empathetic, and engaged.
- 80/20 Principle
80% of your results are generated by 20% of your efforts. Keep yourself from getting bogged down with distractions and busy work. Schedule important activities that must be done each day for your business to continue. These activities are non-negotiable. Tips to be successful:
> Limit distractions
> Review your goals
> Do the activities
> Talk to someone about your progress weekly
> Ask that person how you can help them next week
