Aberlin Springs sits just a few miles behind the Target off Highway 48 and Interstate 71 in the rolling hills near South Lebanon and Morrow in Hamilton Township. It is the region’s only agri-community and the first in Ohio.
The community is named for the Swiss family who moved to the area in 1990 and decided to bring a bit of Switzerland with them. The center of the community is the full functioning farm run by the Aberlin family. They raise animals and grow organic crops. The bounty is shared in a CSA (community-supported agriculture) which allows members the opportunity to enjoy farm-to-table food.
The development is crisscrossed by walking trails and boasts a beautiful lake fully stocked with all sorts of fish. Monthly events, such as this month’s Open House and Cultivating Carrots, offer educational programs for anyone in the region. They also offer home and farm tours for those who wish to see what life is like in an agrihood.
