A few weeks ago, I woke up to the opposite of my alarm – complete silence. My fan stopped, the humming of my AC disappeared – the power went out! In my neighborhood, the power lines are underground, so it is rare for the electric to go out. My son was living his best life, lighting every candle he could find, so he didn’t have to get ready for school in the dark.
As soon as he got on the bus, my first thought was “where can I find coffee and internet?” I needed my daily dose of caffeine in a cup to fully wake up, and access to the rest of the world. Luckily, the surrounding areas still had power, so I was able to go check out some of my favorite coffee spots in Southeastern Indiana! Here are my go-to’s for coffee and internet emergencies (or just to hang out any ordinary day):
Funny Farm Coffee Company in Lawrenceburg, IN
Funny Farm Coffee Company is located in the heart of downtown Lawrenceburg, Indiana. They have a welcoming and unique vibe, combining an industrial and rustic feel which I love! They have lots of local and custom items for sale, along with amazing coffee they roast and brew themselves, and a fantastic menu. I highly recommend their avocado toast – to say I’m obsessed with it is an understatement. I make my own at home every morning and make it just like theirs, complete with tomato, eggs and microgreens when they are available!

Spire Book and Coffee Co. in Aurora, IN
If you’re looking for coffee spots in Southeastern Indiana to relax and get comfy, Spire Book and Coffee Co, nestled in Aurora, Indiana is the perfect place. You walk into a cute and cozy environment with a hint of fun, retro flair. They have a great selection of coffee and pastries and what sets them apart is all of their books! They have a huge variety of new and used books to enjoy while you sip on your coffee or to purchase and take home to enjoy! As an avid reader and book lover – I love to browse their selections while waiting for my coffee!

ARS Café and Meeting House in Guilford, IN
ARS Café and Meeting House is located at the corner of North Dearborn Rd and SR1 in Guilford, Indiana. It gives cozy, rustic farmhouse vibes and makes you want to grab a cup of coffee and get comfy by the fireplace. They have a great selection of coffee and a simple but great selection of breakfast or lunch sandwiches and some pastries. One thing that sets them apart from other coffee spots in Southeastern Indiana is their “give someone a mug” program. You can buy a cup of coffee for someone to use in the future – a random act of kindness!
