Super Bowl Charcuterie: A Board That Wins, No Matter the Score

The Super Bowl may be about football, but it’s also about gathering, comfort, and the little details that make people feel at home. Hosting doesn’t have to mean spending the entire day in the kitchen or overcomplicating the menu. With a little intention, and by supporting some of our favorite local spots, you can create a spread that feels elevated, approachable, and crowd-pleasing.

Living in Montgomery, we’re incredibly fortunate to have access to so many amazing local businesses, many of which I rely on year-round. As a Realtor, I’m constantly reminded that community is what makes a place feel like home, and this menu is a reflection of that belief.

Below is my go-to Super Bowl lineup: simple, satisfying, and thoughtfully sourced.

Filet Sliders (The MVP of the Menu)

These are always the first thing to disappear.

I start at Pipkin’s Market right here in Montgomery. They’re open year-round and support local farms, which makes a noticeable difference in quality. I also grab slider buns from their bread section, featuring a great variety from local artisan bakers.

For the filet, I head just down the road to The NY Butcher Shoppe for fresh, high-quality cuts.

How I prepare them:

  • Mince one clove of fresh garlic and sauté it in butter in a cast-iron skillet
  • Lightly season the filets with salt and pepper
  • Sear each side for about 3–4 minutes
  • Transfer to the oven until cooked to your desired temperature
  • Finish with a quick broil before removing

While the steaks finish cooking, I prep the buns:

  • Spread The Parisian Pantry sea salt whipped butter on the buns
  • Sear butter-side down until golden and crisp (this happens fast—watch closely!)

Assemble:

  • Toasted bun
  • Crispy onions (homemade if you have time; salad toppers work just fine)
  • A slice of provolone (or your favorite cheese)
  • Thinly sliced filet
  • A light smear of Duke’s mayo

Hummus & Veggies

Every spread needs something fresh, and this is where local really shines.

My hummus of choice comes from Artemis Mediterranean Café, creamy, flavorful, and made in-house. I add a tablespoon of my favorite Tucson Herb Olive Oil from Spicy Olive, then pair it with rainbow carrots and whatever vegetables look best that week from Pipkin’s.

You can truly taste the difference in locally and organically grown produce.

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Or Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

(My “Secret” Hosting Shortcut)

Unless you genuinely love baking from scratch, this is my favorite shortcut:

  • Pick up Whole Foods frozen cookie dough (chocolate chip or brown butter chocolate chip)
  • Bake as directed
  • Before baking, sprinkle a little Maldon flaky sea salt on top

My philosophy? If you doctor it up even a little, you’ve made it your own, and no one needs to know how easy it was.

Pepperoni Rolls

A game-day must and always a crowd favorite. You can find my full pepperoni roll recipe here. It’s one I come back to again and again.

Sweet Heat Cashews

Ingredients

  • 16 oz cashews (unroasted, unsalted)
  • 1 Tbsp rosemary
  • 1 Tbsp dark brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp melted butter

Directions

Whisk all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add cashews to a large bowl, pour melted butter over them and toss. Add dry ingredients and toss again. Bake at 325°F for 5 minutes, toss, then bake another 5 minutes. Watch closely—they can burn quickly.

Fresh Fruit Bowl

In-season fruit from Pipkin’s:

  • Mango
  • Strawberries
  • Blackberries
  • Raspberries
  • Cotton candy grapes
  • Sweet crunch tangerines
  • Kiwi

Dice into cubes and mix in a large bowl. Squeeze juice from the mango over the fruit and finish with a dash of Maldon flaky sea salt.

More Than the Score

To me, great hosting, and great homes are about how people feel when they’re there. It’s not about perfection; it’s about comfort, connection, and supporting the places and people that make our communities special.

Whether you’re hosting a full house or keeping things low-key, I hope this menu inspires you to gather, enjoy, and maybe shop a little closer to home this Super Bowl Sunday.

And remember, sometimes the best board on game day has nothing to do with the score.
