Five Favorite Places for a Walk in Madisonville

As a longtime resident of Madisonville, I have always enjoyed walking in the neighborhood. I love that its sidewalks can take you just about anywhere. Here is my list of five favorite places to walk to when I head out the door “feet first”:

1. Neighborhood Streets
I have a two-mile path through Madisonville’s neighborhood streets where I enjoy seeing the different home styles and admiring property improvements as I pass by. It’s exciting to know so many people also appreciate living in an older home and are taking efforts to make them great places to live. Many homes have been nicely flipped in the past few years and are now luring in new residents. It’s exciting times in Madisonville!

2. Maserati of Cincinnati and Porsche of the Village
With a milkshake usually in hand from nearby United Dairy Farmers, my stroll along Plainville Road lures me to stop and gaze at all of the beautiful Maseratis and Porsches at Maserati of Cincinnati and Porsche of the Village. Although I cannot imagine actually owning or driving one myself, I do like to gaze upon these spectacular cars. It’s “auto eye candy”.

3. Mad Llama Coffee Shop
Along Madison Road my walk leads me to the Mad Llama Coffee Shop. This cafe is locally owned and I like supporting it. They offer homemade treats to go with that freshly ground cup of joe. Mad Llama employees are very friendly and there is outside seating available for warmer days. And, it makes me laugh to think of a “mad llama”.

4. French Rendez-Vous
The French Rendez-Vous is located on Madison Road and is a wonderful place to walk to when I am in need of a special gift. Everything is “francais” – from baguettes and pastries to soaps and linens. Oui! Oui!

5. Madisonville Public Library
From Madison Road to south on Whetsel Avenue, it’s just a half block to the steps of the Madisonville Public Library. I love this new building – everything is fresh and new. It features a creative section for crafters and embroiders as well as a virtual reality gaming area. There is a vinyl printer and a recording studio. The new library is so much more than books!
